I see a buffalo, so with the help of colored pencils I bring him out. I have no journaling inspiration of my own for this buffalo, perhaps it is because I live in Wisconsin, and I have no personal experience with them.

Next I google "buffalo quotes". I find this - "What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the Wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset." Crowfoot

I write down the quote. Then pencil in snow and a bit of buffalo breath, which were not in the plan until I found the quote.

A cold snowy day today, I doubt I will see buffalo breath though :)

Gorgeous, as usual. We have buffalo (actually bison) here and lots of them up in Wyoming. At Yellowstone Park it is easy to see lots of yahoos holding up their babies to be in photos with the bison, even though every four inches there is a sign noting how powerful and dangerous they are. Yours is beautiful, and I saw him too.

Love how synchronistic the words and the picture are.

I so love this and commented on Flickr.
What kind of colored pencils do you use that work so well over acrylic?

I use prismacolor pencils. The paints I used are the Golden Fluid Acrylics. The colors are very saturated so you can achieve fairly dark colors with only light washes. Otherwise the pencils don't work very well over heavy applications of acrylic paint. Golden also sells an acrylic ground that gives tooth to the paint so that you can apply colored pencil over it.

Wow - you are incredibly talented. Your art journal pages and what you can pull from your washes is inspiring. Hugs, antonella :-)
